THE WONDERS OF SARDINIA
1 st day – OLBIA / SAN TEODORO Arrival in Golfo Aranci late in the afternoon and transfer with private bus to Olbia, hotel accommodation, dinner and overnight.
2 nd day – MAMOIADA / ORGOSOLO / ORISTANO Breakfast in hotel and departure to Barbagia, the wildest region of the island, where traditions are still deeply rooted. Stop in Mamoiada, the country of the “Mamuthones” the characteristic mask of Carnival and visit of the Museum of Mediterranean Masks (entrance upon reservation and payment), which exposes most of the masks of Sardinia and some masks of the Mediterranean basin. In the museum, a multimedia room illustrates to the tourist the anthropomorphic meaning of the pantomime of Sardinian masks. Continue to Orgosolo, in the namesake Supramonte and lunch with the local shepherds based on local products and grilled roasts. In the evening continue to Oristano, hotel accommodation, dinner and overnight.
3 rd day – CABRAS / THARROS / BARUMINI / CAGLIARI Breakfast in hotel and excursion to the Sinis peninsula and guided visit of the site, the ancient Punic-Roman city of Tharros (entrance upon reservation and payment) and the paleo-Christian church of San Giovanni in Sinis. Transfer to Cabras, to visit the Museum (entrance upon reservation and payment), which exhibits the Giants of Monte Prama, recently exposed after a long restoration. Lunch in typical restaurant. In the afternoon departure to Barumini and guided visit of the site, Su Nuraxi (entrance upon reservation and payment), the most impressive Nuragic complex of the island, discovered and brought to light in the 1950s by the well-known archaeologist Giovanni Lilliu, now a UNESCO world heritage site. In the evening arrival in Cagliari, hotel accommodation, dinner and overnight.
4 th day – CAGLIARI Breakfast in hotel and guided walking tour (max 3 hours) of the city, ancient Karalis, very important in antiquity, for its happy position in the middle of the Mediterranean. Visit the Castello district, the oldest part that dominates the city, the Archaeological Museum (entrance upon reservation and payment), which houses most of the finds from various eras found on the island, the Marina district, the Basilica of the Madonna di Bonaria “Patron of the Island”, overview of Monte Urpinu etc. Lunch in a restaurant. Free afternoon in the centre. Return to the hotel in the evening, dinner and overnight.
5 th day – BOSA / ALGHERO Breakfast in hotel and departure to Bosa, recently named the second most beautiful village in Italy and visit of the characteristic historical centre along the Temo river, the only navigable island. Visit with guide (max 3 hours). Lunch in a restaurant. In the afternoon, continue to Alghero, along the beautiful panoramic road to the sea. Arrival in the evening, accommodation in hotel, dinner and overnight.
6 th day – ALGHERO / SACCARGIA / ARZACHENA OR SURROUNDINGS Breakfast in hotel and guided tour of the city of Catalan origin: the Cathedral, the Church of St. Francis (entrance upon reservation and payment), the Aragonese Bastions, the Promenade. Lunch in a restaurant. In the afternoon departure to the east coast and stop in Saccargia to visit the beautiful church of the S.S. Trinity. Continue to Luogosanto (Arzachena), accommodation in hotel, dinner and overnight.
7 th day – LA MADDALENA / CAPRERA / COSTA SMERALDA Breakfast in hotel and transfer to Palau, meeting with the guide and boarding the ferry to La Maddalena. Visit of the town and of Caprera with the House-Museum of Garibaldi (entrance upon reservation and payment), where the great Patriot lived and died. Lunch in a restaurant. In the afternoon return and visit of the Costa Smeralda with stop and visit on foot of Porto Cervo, the most famous resort, destination of the international Jet-Set. In the evening, return to the hotel, dinner and overnight.
8 th day – GOLFO ARANCI Breakfast in hotel and transfer to the port of Golfo Aranci for the return by boat to the destination of origin. End of services.
